Autumn Candles

When real autumn arrives with its windy, rainy days, I always start to think about burning candles in the evenings besides having a warm scarf. I love candles. Honestly not just for cold seasons, I don’t mind using them in the hottest night at the summer as well, but this time, I really feel temptation to make my collection wider.

A candlelight in the dark room at night is just a simple phenomenon, but its effect is more complex. It can give me serenity, which is a great value for me. I think, watching the little dancing lights is very relaxing, even if I have to study I can concentrate more when the light of the candles fill the room.

For a big candle fan like me making candles can be also a really enjoyable hobby. After you heat the wax in a little bowl above the boiling water in a small hob, the special smell of the hot, melted wax will spread into the whole kitchen’s air. It is like witchcraft. You can choose the shape, the size, the colour, your favourite scents; you can create all of your ideas. Only your imagination can block you. All of your products are individual with sort of an own spirit. There are wide ranges of your possibilities, you just have to be creative and finally the whole house will be full of drying candle shapes and forms. Of course, you will need the support of other members of the household-shore. Their comprehension will be useful when in the end of your work; you look around and realize the big mess everywhere around you. This is the part of the pleasure.

After the extensive cleaning process, now I have time to enjoy the fruit of my work. I’ve put on some music, I’ve chosen the proper candles, successfully found a matchbox, switched on my computer and started to write. The wind is blowing coolly outside, the colourful leaves are falling down, nice season, isn’t it?

Maybe we could have a candle-lit class one day, too?

I also really like candles and I have a lot of them.It was so good to read what you have written. I feel the same sometimes. But I prefer summer or the beginning of autumn.

You know how to live, Réka! When I was a child, my favorite was the paraffine lamp. I broke the glass shade of my first one though, even before the first use.
